You didn't have to die on the cross, so thank you. They derided you back then, and they still mock you now. They distorted Your love in the past and the present. But, even in your darkest hour, you chose humanity. You picked society as a bridge of love and a path of hope. Thank you very much.

I would be speechless if you were in front of me right now. The truth is that I would be in awe if you were face-to-face with me without any words.

I knew you were there as a child but didn't know who you were. As a shattered adolescent, I considered you but was validated by dysfunction. You found me as a new mom enslaved by abuse. As a young adult, I find myself madly in love with you. I married my life to yours as a single mother and entrusted you with our lives. As a new Christian who the church had hurt, I believed you anyway. Even after I divorced, when I did everything correctly according to God's word, it failed...I looked to you for guidance. You pointed me in the right direction, you reminded me of who I am, and I stood up and made a step forward.

That ushered in a season of abundance and grace like no other; I met a man who would make me feel safe for the first time. Thank you very much. I nearly lost my life, my son's, and my daughter for a season, my world broke apart, and I recall the night I shouted at you, and you gently reminded me to give her back.

You brought me back to life but still working out healing as a lonely, newlywed bride. This is a challenging task. God, you are constant.

As a woman, black or not, you held my hand through difficult work settings. When others wanted to see me fail, you elevated me. You continuously lead me whenever I look to you.

Thank you for today, but it seems life keeps me in a bind. I have a broken heart and a confused mind.

This is as real and raw as Jesus dying on the cross on Good Friday.

He died so that we could all have intimate relationships with Him. I can guarantee you that your stories will not be the same as mine, but they will share the common thread of love, joy, hope, faithfulness, and peace despite the storms and winds that blow.

Sunday is Resurrection Day; I pray you open your mind and heart to have a true friendship with the living God.
